• Strunk, William. 1918. The Elements of Style. From Project Bartleby at Columbia University, this is the "classic" reference work, completely and attractively hypertexted.
• On-Line English Grammar. Created and compiled by EduNet, this resource covers the basics of English grammar.
• The Editorial Eye. Index of articles from the Editorial Eye, a publication devoted to writing, editing and publishing.

Dictionaries:

• Hypertext Webster Interface Dictionary. A complete dictionary in hypertext.
• ARTFL's French-English Dictionary.
• English-German dictionary.
• English-Japanese dictionary.
• European dictionary. This experimental dictionary will translate words between eight different European languages. While chiefly designed to handle 'official' and 'technical' words, it does provide translation of more normal words as well.
• Foreign Languages for Travelers. A highly useful website: not only does it provide translation of a variety of common phrases in a number of languages, but also pronunciations (Note: PCs must have soundcards).
• Semantic Rhyming Dictionary. Useful if you're writing poetry. Includes some interesting features.
• Dictionary of Phrase and Fable. Based on the 1894 edition.

Time, Space and Place:

• World Clock. Updated constantly, this site gives the local time from cities and countries worldwide.
• World Map. This world map allows you to click on a location and then magnify it.
• Sun/Moon Rise/Set Calculator. Calculates sun and moon data of any US location.
• U.S. Gazetteer. Choose a location by name or zip and receive census information and a local map.
• How far is it? Allows you to enter two locations and then calculates the distance between the two.
• 1997 CIA World Factbook. Basic information on countries world-wide.
• Library of Congress: Country Studies/Area Handbooks. Originally created by the Library of Congress for the U.S. Army, these pages provide a wide variety of information on several countries world-wide.
