Book 'Em, Dano

Books, books, books. Got my contributor's copies of Scattered, Covered, Smothered today. Such handsome volumes! It's the prettiest fiction-poetry-anthology-cookbook I've ever been associated with. Also got a copy of Vera's Lords of Rainbow, (thank you, Vera!) a fantasy I've been eyeing for some time. Looking forward to reading it. And I managed to find a copy of The Adversary, so my copy of the Pliocene Exile is complete. Phew, closure.

Quiet at the library. Well, not as quiet as all that. The computers make a bit of a hum. It's a subtle kind of noise. You don't even notice it until the end of the day, as you're turning the machines off, one by one. Each screen that goes black, each glass eye that shuts, eases that pressure, lifts that weight that has sat upon you unknowingly.

Of course, that's when you can hear the books. They never stop whispering.

Reading: A brief pause from the Pliocene to read Tea with the Black Dragon, by R. A. MacAvoy.
