Consume

Been a while since I've written anything here. That happens, especially when the Editors of the World don't see fit to send my stuff back. No returns, no posts. You know the drill. Still things proceed apace. We've (Lisa and I) just bought some new furniture for the family room: sofa, loveseat, end tables, bookshelf, entertainment armoire, and, come Monday, tv set. Most of it isn't here yet, of course. We await the pleasure of the various Gods of Delivery. But when it does come, I anticipate a flurry of redistribution: furniture in the family room will be shuffled to the living room or the bedroom, which will cause more furniture to go elsewhere in an endless game of trickle-down. On one hand, I'm pleased at the new stuff (still too many empty rooms in here). On the other hand, I don't particularly feel like carting it up or down the stairs. Sigh.

There's little else to report. I swear it is so. Well, ok: this weekend we had dinner guests two nights in a row. The first were friends from grad school, the second my parents and my brother, celebrating their soon-to-be birthdays. Nice having people over. We should do it more often.

Recent reads: Hey, there've been a few. The first Thieves' World anthology, in a blast from the past and the new Jonathan Carroll novel White Apples (at least, I think that was the title. It's upstairs on my bedside table and I don't feel like going up to check right now. Lazy, lazy me).
